UEFA: selection of the host on 18th April

The decision to appoint the host of EURO 2012 will be made on 18th April – officially informed Lars-Christer Olsson, the UEFA Chief Executive, in his letter to Executive Committees of the Bids.

The meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee on the appointment of the host of the European Championships will take two days. On the first day all three candidates will make the final presentations before the members of the UEFA Executive Committee. Voting of the Committee and announcement of the winner takes place on the following day (for more details check the heading "Voting Procedure").

UEFA explains the postponement of the date by the need to have a more detailed definition of the relationships between UEFA and host cities. The UEFA decision is dictated by experiences from the organization of this year’s FIFA World Cup in Germany.
