UEFA in the Ukraine, Lviv at first

Today, the UEFA inspectors start their visit in Ukraine to acknowledge the country and its capability for being the host of the final tournament of the European Football Championships in 2012.

At 1:45 p.m., six UEFA officials will arrive to Lviv from Warsaw, where they ended visit in cities-candidates for hosting the final part of EURO 2012. The three days visit in Ukraine will be spent on meetings with authorities and persons in charge of preparation of EURO 2012 and defining the level of political support for hosting EURO 2012.

The programme of inspectors’ visit in Ukraine covers inspection of already existing stadiums and plots under construction of new ones, training centres, hotels declared and zones for football fans and VIPs in each hosting city. During the visit, UEFA representatives will meet with the President of Ukraine W. Yuschenko, head of the Ukraine’s Supreme Council O. Moroz, the first deputy prime minister M. Azarov, deputy prime minister D. Tabaschnik, minister for the Family, Youth and Sport J. Pavlenko.

The visit was paid by Harry Benn – member of UEFA committee for national teams, Giorgio Marchetti - UEFA director for professional football, Mikael Salzer – head of UEFA team for competition of national teams, Christoph Jung - UEFA manager for EURO 2012 contest, Maik Kiss – head of team for events organised by UEFA, Marion-Nicole Breuer - UEFA safety advisor and UEFA coordinator for EURO 2008 contest, as well as Martin Kallen – operating director for EURO 2008. During their visit in Ukraine, the guests will be accompanied by Grigorij Surkis, president of FFU and member of UEFA Executive Committee, and Ivan Fedorenko, manager of Executive Directorate for EURO 2012.

The press conference of UEFA delegation for journalists is scheduled, however the hour and place is not announced yet.
