U-19: Poland wins

Dawid Janczyk led Poland to victory against Belgium 4:1. Thanks to the victory accompanied by Austria’s defeat, the "white-and-reds" took the lead in Group A.

After the game lost to Austria (0:1) Poles were heavily criticized. The forward Dawid Janczyk, who was supposed to be the main goal scorer, was the most strongly criticized player. Players under charge of Michał Globisz took the words of criticism to their hearts and in the match against the powerful Belgian team this was quite a different team.

The main hero of the Polish team was the one who failed so badly during the match against Austria - Janczyk. He scored three beautiful goals and the second goal, shot at a steep angle, would not be considered a disgrace by players who took part at world championships in Germany.

- I am happy that we managed to revive after the defeat against Austria. I am aware that I failed in that match. But I want first of all to thank my colleagues for the passes, because if it were not for them I would not have scored the goals. Hat-trick had happened to me in my career before but this one give me particular satisfaction - said Janczyk after the match

Two goals were scored after excellent moves by Mariusz Sacho. The player from Podbeskidzie showed his strengths already during the first match, and confirmed his excellent form in the match against Belgium. There were actually no weaknesses in the Polish team at that match.

On Sunday Poles play against Czechs. A draw suffices for "white-and-reds" to qualify for semi-finals.

Opinions about the match:

Michał Globisz (Polish coach): - We played a very good match in all parts of the team structure. The team, who were extremely determined and wanted to win at any price, was the basis of the success. Everything worked like clockwork at the match and Dawid Janczyk was definitely the jewel in this design. His goals lent wings to other colleagues.

Marc van Geersom (Belgian coach): - Poles played quite differently than during the first match. They used two forwards, the wings worked better. In the second half, when we scored one goal and the result was 3:1, I still hoped we could change the final result. Poles defended themselves with ten players and they did it quite effectively.
