U-19 European Championship starts tomorrow

European Under-19 Championship in Football start tomorrow at the Lech Poznań. At 8 p.m. Poles will play against Austrians in the opening match.

Leo Beenhakker – the new selectioner of the Polish national team is to be present at the match. The final match (29th July) will be honoured by the presence of UEFA President - Lennart Johansson. Fans on the stands are to be attracted not only by the rising stars of European football, like – Spanish midfielder Jeffren Suarez (FC Barcelona B), or Portuguese midfielder Bruno Braga (FC Porto), but also by free tickets.

European Under-19 Championship are the biggest football event to be held in Poland this year. Coverage of the championships will be broadcast on Eurosport and Eurosport 2 television channels.

European Under-19 Championship have a long history. They are a successor to the U-18 youth tournament held by FIFA for the first time in 1948. Seven years later UEFA assumed responsibility for organization of the tournament. The current name „UEFA European Under-19 Championship” was established in early 1980ties.
