Football is the heart of sporting life for Poles and Ukrainians. And always has been. Over 45 million in all watch our national teams on television - the third most popular broadcast for each nation. Tickets for games sell fast - more than 20 times over subscribed for this year’s World Cup. The Poland and Ukraine UEFA EURO 2012 Bid is a bid by football fans for football fans.
UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine will open up a part of Europe that many still do not know. Both nations have world class reputations for hospitality to visitors. Both give visitors an opportunity to experience their rich culture and history - World Heritage sites, unspoiled nature - from the Baltic to the Black Sea.
UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine will spread football and UEFA’s message far beyond their own borders. Millions of Poles and Ukrainians live abroad. Being host will promote football wherever they are - in the US and all around the world.
- We will promote UEFA EURO 2012 as being about friendship, about building relationships and making them last. Not just between people but between nations. And this is of course the story of Poland and Ukraine - countries joined together by so much. Ours is a shared history - we have come on the same journey, have the same culture, the same values. We trade together, play sport together, live together. Ours is a relationship that will last. We may be two countries - but in many ways are really just one. – said Mr. Michał Listkiewicz from the Polish Football Association.
- We guarantee that we meet all UEFA’s requirements and then offer more. We include 4 back up stadia - all ready to use - in 3 further cities - exceeding UEFA’s requirements and minimising risk. Our stadia and infrastructure showcase all that is good in design - both flair and function. - assured Mr. Grygoriy Surkis from the Ukrainian Football association.
