Victor Yushchenko to the UEFA President Lennart Johansson

May 26, 2006 President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko in a letter to the UEFA President Lennart Johansson expressed his gratefulness for support of the joint Bid of Ukraine and Poland for the right to host the European Championship 2012.

Nyon, May 26, 2006

Dear Mr. President!

I would like to express my gratefulness for support of the joint Bid of Ukraine and Poland for the right to host the European Championship 2012.

It will be a great opportunity for Ukrainians and Polacks to welcome the best representatives of the European Football Family with dignity and to give an unforgettable sport event as a gift to millions of fans around the world.

I am sure that Ukraine and Poland are able to provide high level of the hosting of such an important event. At the moment, Ukrainian government is engaged in the issues of transport, sport and tourist infrastructure development. Namely the stadiums in Kyiv, Odesa, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk and new terminals of the Kyiv International airport “Boryspil” are under construction and renovation at the moment.

I am sure that due to UEFA EURO 2012 in Ukraine and Poland, we will be able to show to millions of football fans the beauty of our cities that have preserved their historic attraction; confirm Slavic hospitality and high culture.
