EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
On Tuesday, May the 16th, the meeting of the working group regarding the preparation of the common Bid of Ukraine and Poland for the right to host the final part of the European championship 2012, headed by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for humanitarian and social matters Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, took place in Kyiv. At the meeting the Bid Dossier project of the second faze was presented. Having examined and approved the project, the participants discussed the level of the readiness of the required documentation. The Bid Dossier has to be submitted to UEFA until 31st of May.
At the meeting were present the following officials: Deputy Minister of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sports Vladyslav Mylenky, president of the Football Federation of Ukraine Grygoriy Surkis, chiefs of the regional working groups: Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa, representatives of central and regional authorities and the Executive directorate EURO 2012.
During the meeting the participants defined four main host cities, prepared in the best way, and a reserve one. Lviv took the first position, having gained the biggest number of points. The city submitted serious information regarding existing and planned for construction hotels, detailed concepts of transport and infrastructure development, safety and security and the medical concept proposals, as well as the tourist program for fans’ reception. Dnipropetrovsk, which did not get almost any reproofs, appeared on the second place. The third and fourth places were accordingly taken by Donetsk, Kyiv and region. Odessa city, which joined the tender only on the second phase, prepared most of the required materials of the first and second fazes, but, according to the evaluation criteria, it was defined as reserve.
Despite the ratings, all the host cities got obliged to urgently submit the missing information until the 20th of May. According to the president of the Football Federation of Ukraine Grygoriy Surkis, if Ukraine and Poland win the tender, the organizational committee will do its best to give possibility to each of the cities, participating in the Bid Dossier preparation, to host matches of EURO 2012.
