Cities hosting EURO 2012 want to change 26 acts and legal regulations. At the end of May presidents of Gdansk, Krakow, Warsaw and Wrocław submitted the relevant document with postulates to the deputy prime minister Przemysław Gosiewski.

According to representatives of local governments first of all the tender procedure must be simplified. Therefore they postulate removal of the requirement to draw up complex analyses of the risk pertaining to undertakings implemented in the frames of public-private partnership. The cities also want changes in the act on revenues of territorial governments. (Gazeta Wyborcza)

The Ukrainian State Railways adopted a plan for modernization of infrastructure, which is to prepare the country for EURO 2012. The plans cover modernization of 1160 km of tracks, replacement of 1460 switches, modernization of 232 railway stations and installation of over 700 km of cabling. The investment is to cost USD 22 billion. (Parkiet)

Economists envisage that EURO 2012 will cause a drop in the prices of electronics. Other sectors, and particularly the construction industry and the related services, will experience price rises. On the other hand beer is not going to go up in price. (Gazeta Prawna)

Totalizator Sportowy is going to construct the National Sport Center  (NCS) in Warsaw. The money will come from fees for gambling and budgetary subsidies. The investment cost is estimated at PLN 1.25 billion. The Ministry of the Treasury presented a draft act on financing of NCS construction. (Gazeta Prawna)

Warsaw is going to spend PLN 10 billion for preparations for EURO 2012. The largest amount will need to be expended for public transport and roads. The budget of Warsaw is unable to bear the costs of such investments and therefore the capital city will apply for co-financing from the European Union. (Życie Warszawy)
