EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
Yesterday’s meeting in Zurich of Tomasz Lipiec, the minister of sport, with Horst R. Shmidt, the president for EURO 2004, concerned the methods of financing the sport infrastructure and time schedule of preparations for EURO 2012.
Participants of the meeting included representatives of the organizing committees for World Championships in Germany (2006), finals of the European Championships in Portugal (2004) and next year’s European Championships in Switzerland and Austria.
On 21st June Tomasz Lipiec is meeting representatives of Polish local governments, and at the end of June he wants to announce the „roadmap” of preparations for EURO. (Przegląd Sportowy, Nasz Dziennik)

Regulations allowing for hiring of Russians, Belarussians and Ukrainians for season works in Poland are entering into force next week. In order to make it on time with many investments related to EURO 2012, heads of construction companies need by 2012 as many as 200 thousand workers. (Słowo Polskie Gazeta Wrocławska)

Eleven Polish airports estimated their investment needs for the years 2007-2013 at over PLN 4.5 billion. Airports in Warsaw, Wrocław, Poznań and Gdańsk, and most probably also in Katowice and Krakow will have to be prepared to clear in 2012 even several hundred airplanes daily. (Gazeta Prawna)

Małopolska wants to obtain PLN 9 billion for investments related to EURO 2012 – the largest amount among all regions where the tournament is to be held. Lower Silesia (PLN 4.6 billion) and Silesia (PLN 4.5 billion) want to get half less each. Wielkopolska needs the smallest amount for preparations – PLN 1.6 billion. (Dziennik Polski)

The committee for EURO 2012 was established in Poznań. It is headed by Ryszard Grobelny, the city president. The president also appointed 13 municipal committees, including one for stadium construction, roads, training and organization of voluntary workers.

A stadium, swimming pools with an aqua park, hotel and services base with a sport hall and conference center are the elements to be evaluated by the competition jury during selection of the project for the National Sport Center in Warsaw. Those willing to develop a spatial and architectural concept may apply by 26th June.
The National Stadium with infrastructure is to be ready in 2010, but the entire Sport Center – just before commencement of EURO 2012. (Dziennik, Puls Biznesu)
