GW: The five–year plan of Poznań

In the forthcoming five years, i.e. by the time when Poznań will host EURO 2012, the city and its surroundings is going to experience a complete transformation. We are listing below – quoting after „Gazeta Wyborcza” – the list of investments that should be deployed by the date of the football championships. We are also listing envisaged costs and duration of works.


Strategic projects:

Stadium
 - modernization of the stadium at Bułgarska street: years 2008-2011, PLN 400 mio.;

Roads
- construction of the IIIrd framework form Lutycka node to Głogowska node (section form Dąbrowskiego street to Głogowska street): years 2008-2011, PLN 1 billion 600 mio.;
 - refurbishment of Głogowska street to A2 motorway to Górczyn node (from Strumieńa Junikowski to Rawicka street): years 2007-2008, PLN 80 mio.;
 - refurbishment of Bułgarska street (from Marcelińska street to Ptasia street): years 2009-2010, PLN 40 mio.;
 - refurbishment of Bukowska street at the section from the IIIrd framework to Poznań borders including construction of access road to cargo terminal at Ławica airport: years 2008-2010, PLN 80 mio.;
 - refurbishment of Lechicka street and Lutycka street as a fragment of the IIIrd framework (from  Dąbrowskiego street to Obornicka street): years 2008-2011, PLN 800 mio.;

Municipal transport
 - completion of the IInd transport framework (Nowe Zawady) including extension of the tramway route to Poznań East railway station: by 2011, PLN 140 mio.;
 - extension of „Pestka" route to the Western Station: years 2008-2011, PLN 80 mio.;
 - construction of the tramway route from Lecha residential estate to Franowo including a new tramway depot: years 2008-2010, PLN 200 mio.;
 - purchase of modern low floor tramways: by 2011, PLN 450 mio.;

Accommodation, tourism
- modernization of POSiR hotel base: by 2011, PLN 6.4 mio.;

Municipal investments
 - continuation of the construction of the hospital at Kurlandzka street: years 2008-2012, PLN 80 mio.;
 - expansion of the system of public toilets: years 2008-2011, PLN 12 mio.;
 - integrated system or tourist information: by 2010, PLN 2 mio. 800 thousand;
 - development of a strategy for promotion of Poznań for the years 2008-2015: by 2010, PLN 1 mio. 200 thousand;
 - expansion of the monitoring system in the frames of the royal-imperial road: years 2007-2009, PLN 11.5 mio.;
 - construction of a fire brigade watch tower at Smochowice: years 2007-2010, PLN 8 mio.;
 - revitalization of historical fire brigade watch tower at Grunwaldzka street: years 2008-2010, PLN 6 mio.;

Other
 - creation of the IT system supporting management in emergencies: years 2007-2010, PLN 12.5 mio.;
 - construction of isolation ward in the hospital at Nowe Miasto: years 2008-2009, PLN 12 mio. 964 thousand;


Very important projects:

Sporting facilities
 - modernization and thermal modernization of the Arena hall: by 2010, PLN 16 mio. 800 thousand;

Roads
 - refurbishment of Lechicka street (from Obornicka street to Naramowicka street): years 2008-2011, PLN 600 mio.;
 - refurbishment of Dolna Wilda street from Hetmańska street to A2 motorway: years 2008-2010, PLN 50 mio.;

Municipal transport
 -construction in the city of the traffic control system: years 2008-2011, PLN 120 mio.;
 - renewal of the public transport infrastructure: by 2011, PLN 65 mio.;

Accommodation, tourism
 - development and implementation of a concept for promotion of business tourism products of Poznań and Wielkopolska at European markets in the years 2008-2013: by 2011, PLN 2 mio. 400 thousand;
 - monitoring of the tourism market and a series of training courses for the tourism sector of Poznań and Wielkopolska: by 2010, PLN 1 mio. 200 thousand;

Municipal investments
 - purchase of medical equipment for the cardiac surgery ward in the hospital at Nowe Miasto: by 2010, PLN 15 mio.;
 - purchase of highly specialized devices and medical equipment required for medical support of EURO 2012: years 2008-2012, PLN 34 mio. 330 thousand;
 - ensuring adequate technical infrastructure for ZOZs: years 2008-2012, PLN 10 mio. 870 thousand;

Other
- training for voluntaries supporting EURO 2012: by 2012, PLN 300 thousand (the president plans transferring this tasks to the group of strategic projects; he want the voluntary workers training center to be created in Poznań before EURO 2012);

 - refurbishment of Antoninek viaduct: years 2008-2010, PLN 100 mio.;
 - refurbishment of 184 road Poznań-Szamotuły (in Poznań- the section from Lipowa street to Podjazdowa street): PLN 20 mio.;
 - refurbishment of the traffic arrangement of the Starołęka roundabout: years 2010-2011, PLN 100 mio.;
 - construction of the IIIrd framework from Hetmańska node to Antoninek node (the section from Hetmańska street to Warszawska street): years 2008-2011, PLN 890 mio.;
 - construction of the IIIrd framework from Głogowska street to Hetmańska node (the section from Hetmańska street to Głogowska street): years 2008-2011, PLN 1 billion 300 mio.;

Accommodation, tourism
 - expansion of the tourism infrastructure – carriage of visitors in the New Zoo: by 2011, PLN 2 mio.;
 - a three-stage revitalization and adaptation for tourism and cultural purposes of the 19th century fortress ring: two stages by 2011, PLN 88 mio.;

Municipal investments
 - expansion of the system securing medical rescue actions: years 2008-2011, PLN 24 mio.;
 - overhaul and modernization of infrastructure: years 2007-2012, PLN 200 mio.;
 - purchase of specialized vehicles and equipment: years 2008-2012, PLN 78 mio.;
 - additional financing for municipal guards: years 2007-2011, PLN 12 mio. 300 thousand;
 - additional financing of the Municipal Headquarters of the Firefighting Services: years 2008-2011, PLN 34.5 mio.;

Other
- expansion of the system of communications and IT: years 2008-2009, PLN 115 mio.;
