EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
Kiev and a few other Ukrainian cities submitted a request for offer to Poznań Factory for Rail Vehicles (FPS) for purchase of modern tramways. Ukrainian railways turned with a similar request for offer to FPS with a view to modernizing its rolling stock.
- Talks with the Ukrainian side are much advanced - confirms Bogdan Pohl, a deputy dircetor at FPS. – In June, during the International Poznań Fair, we will present a low-floor tramway. W hope guests from Kiev will like it. (Głos Wielkopolski)

Wrocław airport of Strachowice will be completely refurbished. A new airport terminal with the area of almost 40 thousand square meters is to be completed as early as in 2010. (Rzeczpospolita)

Sucharskiego Route connecting Gdansk with A-1 motorway will be constructed in Pomerania. Its northern end will run past the Baltic Arena stadium. A part of the costs of the route’s construction, which are to amount to approx. PLN 1.2 billion, will be covered from EU assistance funds (PLN 800 million). The city wants to obtain the remaining PLN 400 million from additional funds allocated to investments related to EURO 2012.
A southern ring road of Gdansk will be also constructed to improve connections between the city, the A-1 motorway and S-7 road in the direction of Warsaw. This road will be of express road standard. It was set out through the area of Żuławy Gdańskie, which is crossed by many canals; because of that both routes will run on high flyovers. The roads are to cost PLN 800 million. Presently the blueprint is developed. First works are scheduled for the turn of 2007 and 2008. (Gazeta Wyborcza)

The composition of the organizing committee for EURO 2012 in Krakow was announced yesterday. The committee is headed by Jacek Majchrowski, the president of the city. Committee’s composition also includes: Wiesław Starowicz (president’s deputy for infrastructure), Tadeusz Trzmiel (deputy for investments), Grażyna Leja (plenipotentiary for investments), Andrzej Oklejak (plenipotentiary for legal affairs), Henryk Kasperczyk and representatives of the Civil Platform and Law and Justice clubs in the City Council. In contrast to earlier speculations, Jan Tajster of Krakow Roads Management was not invited for cooperation. (Gazeta Krakowska)

Szczecin will construct a modern stadium by 2010. Presently the city has no modern stadium. The one where Pogoń Szczecin plays matches requires thorough refurbishment. The authorities deemed that it does not make sense to modernize it. The new stadium will be constructed in place of the grass airport in Dąbie district. (Gazeta Wyborcza)
