EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
The eastern ring-road of the capital city and a road connecting A2 motorway to Armii Krajowej Route will be constructed – as was agreed at a meeting with Wojciech Dąbrowski, the head of the Mazowsze branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), Jacek Wojciechowicz, a deputy president of Warsaw and Jacek Sasin, the Mazowsze voivode.
Reconstruction of Toruńska and AK Routes including the Grota-Roweckiego Bridge is also planned. By the end of May, GDDKiA will develop a list of top priority investments. (Dziennik Warszawa)

Construction of A4 motorway at the Kraków-Szarów section was commenced. This will be the first motorway east of the Vistula River, connecting Poland and Ukraine. (Polskie Drogi)

The Minister of Transport Jerzy Polaczek declared acceleration of the expansion of the country’s transport network. This is a response to awarding to Poland of the right to host EURO 2012. In the forthcoming years, the EU assistance funds will help to implement not only road, railways, and airport projects, but also investments aimed at improvements of municipal transport in the agglomerations that are to host the football championships. Local governments of the cities that are to host EURO 2012 matches, more and more frequently start investments jointly with private undertakings under principles close to public-private partnership (p.p.p.). To this end they take advantage of the provisions of the civil code, the commercial companies code and the public procurement law. (Gazeta Prawna)
