EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
Changes in over 20 bills are required to organize EURO 2012 in Poland – a deputy prime minister Przemysław Gosiewski informed on Friday.
Representatives of the government, host cities and the minister of sport Tomasz Lipiec were among participants of the Friday meeting in the chancellery of the prime minister Jarosław Kaczyński.
After the meeting, the deputy prime minister Gosiewski presented a plan for changes covering over 20 bills, mainly those of investment-related character, e.g. construction law, spatial management or real estate economy law. He also added that the Ministry of Finance are preparing a special EURO 2012 law.
- At the meeting we were discussing changes concerning the act on public-private partnership so that private investors can be involved in the preparations for EURO 2012 – Gosiewski said.
On behalf of the government he declared the will to submit all required drafts of legislative changes still in 2007.
- Legislative works will be performed in a manner creating friendly legal conditions for deployment of investments for all partners. I hope that we will present some of those bills to the Sejm as early as in June – the deputy prime minister said. He also added that a special list of investments related to EURO 2012 will be drawn up.
The Presidents of the host cities were assured at the meeting that as soon as possible they will receive information about the scope of financial support for the construction or modernization of the stadiums where EURO 2012 matches will be held in 2012.
Presidents of Gdańsk and Wrocław, Paweł Adamowicz and Rafał Dutkiewicz, jointly stated that the two forthcoming years of preparations will be of the greatest importance.
- If we manage to organize everything well in that time, we can wait for 2012 in peace – Adamowicz said.
