During the Kielce Road Construction Fairs, a deputy Prime Minister Przemysław Gosiewski informed that the government were considering an increase by over a dozen billion PLN in the investment outlays on the construction of express roads and motorways in the years 2007 – 2013, in connection with the hosting of EURO 2012.

Until yesterday Warsaw Underground accepted applications for a competition concerning the so-called concept project for the second line of the underground. Ten design offices from Poland and abroad have already applied. The competition jury started today checking whether the applicants meet all requirements. At the end of May it will invite the participants for a second stage, where the construction contractors will be selected. Works will commence at the end of the next year and they will take about four years – so as to make it for EURO 2012. Construction of the second line of the underground is – after the National Stadium – the most important investment in Warsaw. (Dziennik, Rzeczpospolita, Trybuna)

Yesterday the first meeting of the Pomeranian Organizing Committee for EURO 2012 was held. During the meeting nominations were handed to individual members and Piotr Karczewski, the Pomeranian deputy voivode, presented the structure of the committee and his vision of future works. Five sub-committees were established. The most important one – the sub-committee for strategies – will be headed by Paweł Adamowicz, the President of Gdansk. (Dziennik Bałtycki)

Krzysztof Łopaciński, the director of the Tourism Institute, thinks that EURO 2012 will influence promotion of Poland abroad, with the outcome of over 20.6 million tourists coming to our country. It is estimated that in 2012 they will spend USD 10.9 mio. in Poland. A perceptible increase in the number of visits of foreign tourists will be maintained after the championships.
