A new head of Polish Staff for EURO 2012

Tomasz Lipiec, the minister of sport, appointed today a new head of the Polish organizing staff for EURO 2012. The nominee is Maciej Grześkowiak, a former director of the Polish State Television Bydgoszcz branch.

- Mr. Maciej Grześkowiak is an efficient sport manager with a lot of experience in journalism, and at the same time he has long practice in the implementation of international sport projects – Lipiec told.

The main task of the staff will be to represent Poland in contacts with the UEFA, to cooperate with local committees appointed by voivodes, to carry out promotional/marketing activities and implement the tasks imposed by the UEFA upon sport ministries of Poland and Ukraine. For the time being the staff is to be composed of a dozen plus persons. Shortly the first instalment of the financing from the state budget is to be provided for the organization of the event.

Maciej Grześkowiak is a journalist and sport manager. He has been employed as the director of the Polish State Television Bydgoszcz branch since December 2005. He has been associated with state television for 13 years. He has worked as a reporter, publisher, head for information, producer. As a producer and coordinator he worked in the Polish State Television team at the Sydney 2000 and Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Games.

Grześkowiak participated in the works of organizing committees for major international light athletics competitions held in Poland (including: U-23 European Championships in 2003 and SPAR European Cup in 2004). At the light athletics federation congress in Osaka in 2006 he successfully presented Bydgoszcz as a candidate to host junior world championships in 2008.
