Design works on the National Stadium to be commenced

On Thursday Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the President of Warsaw, signed the decision specifying the spatial management conditions for the National Stadium in Warsaw. This means that design works for this facility may commence.

The investment will be deployed on the area of the former Stadion Dziesięciolecia, where „Jarmark Europa” („Europe Fair”) is currently in place.

- Decisions concerning the construction of the National Stadium have been already specified and currently the State Treasury may commence works connected with the construction of this stadium - Gronkiewicz-Waltz told the journalists.

The National Stadium, including the adjacent areas where a congress centre, Olympic swimming pool, Aquapark and other facilities will be constructed, shall comprise the National Sport Centre.

The new stadium, planned for 70 thousand spectators, will be constructed before 2012, so as to become the venue of the matches of EURO 2012 - the event to be hosted by Poland and Ukraine.
