The first meeting of the Polish EURO 2012 Organizing Committee

On Thursday, 26th April, a decision of the Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński established the Intergovernmental Team – the Organizing Committee for the European Football Championship EURO 2012. The first meeting of the committee was held on the very same day.

The Committee, which will be chaired by the prime minister, comprises: the minister of sport, a deputy Prime Minister, the minister of finance, the minister of economy, the minister of labor and social policy, the minister of housing, the minister of culture and national heritage, the minister of regional development, the minister of the treasury, the minister of the interior and administration, the minister for foreign affairs, the minister of justice, the minister of transport, the minister of health, the Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the President of the Office for Competition and Consumers Protection, the President of the Polish Tourism Organization, the President of the Public Procurement Office and the Secretary of the Office of the Committee for European Integration.

Representatives of the President of the Republic of Poland, of the Speaker of the Sejm selected from among MPs, a representative of the Speaker of the Senate selected from among Senators, a representative of the Polish Football Association, the President of Polish State Television TVP S.A., the President of the Polish State Radio Polskie Radio S.A. as well as Presidents of Warsaw, Krakow, Wrocław, Poznań, Gdansk and Chorzów were invited to participate as members in the works of the committee.

- This format of cooperation shall allow for efficient coordination of actions, eradicate any potential obstacles, and first of all it shall allow for cooperation of people of different political colors – the Polish prime minister said.

According to Jarosław Kaczyński the excessively complex procedures in Poland can be one of the greatest obstacles for the organization of the championships. The head of the government announced that an act will be adopted in Poland, which will establish a legal framework for the organization of EURO 2012. The next committee meeting will be held in one month.
