EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
Today is the day that will stay long in the memories of all persons supporting Poland-Ukraine bid.
- This victory is a great chance for Poland and Ukraine – said Viacheslav Koloskov, a UEFA member on behalf of Russia, who participated in the voting. – Granting to both those countries of the right to host EURO 2012 signifies fast development of stadiums and sport infrastructure and a boost for the entire economy. This is a chance to develop airports, roads and hotels. Not only fans but also tourist will come to the championships. This will all give to Poland and Ukraine the most modern infrastructure at the European level – he added.
Koloskov also disclosed distribution of the votes cast by decision-makes among candidates. As many as eight votes were cast for Poland-Ukraine bid. Four members of the UEFA backed Italian bid, while nobody voted for Hungary-Croatia bid. Asked who he supported, Koloskov said that it suffices to look at distribution of voted and the significant prevalence of Poland-Ukraine Bid.
