EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
- We went a long way. We played the first half of the match for o EURO 2012. The second half of that match is drawing to an end now – those were the words by Grigorij Surkis, the FFU President, for the beginning of the press conference in Cardiff after the presentation of Poland-Ukrainian bid.
- Tomorrow we will know who wins. Mega-stars of international sport took part in the presentation of Poland-Ukrainian bid. The most important moment – the voting – is tomorrow. – Surkis said. – Due to the fact that I represent both the Ukrainian side and UEFA corporate interests, I don’t have the right to vote during selection of the host. I will not even attend today’s dinner of the UEFA Executive Committee. We won’t even attend today’s dinner, but we were at all three presentations – Surkis added.
- Our presentation was based on people and not on technology and video. UEFA is well aware of the fact that good organisation and success of the European Championships depends mainly on people. A good example is the Championship in Germany, where the enormous success was attained due to participation of voluntaries. – stressed Michał Listkiewicz, the President of Polish Football Association.
Ivan Fedorenko, the head of the Ukrianian Staff for EURO 2012, stressed the role of national media, which worked for the success jointly with the entire team preparing the documentation for Poland-Ukraine bid. Michał Nykowski thanked all team members who worked on the final presentation.
Due to his membership in the UEFA Executive Committee, Grigorij Surkis refused to answer the question whether he could comment on presentations of other candidates, which he had an opportunity to see. – But I do hope that UEFA considers Poland-Ukraine presentation to be the best. – Surkis said.
