EURO 2012: meeting with UEFA
Wirtualnystadion.pl– the world’s biggest VIRTUAL STADIUM – invites all enthusiasts of the idea to host EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine for joint rooting for our bid the day before the announcement of UEFA decision. On Tuesday, 17th April, an attempt at making the world’s biggest Mexican wave will be carried out at the VIRTUAL STADIUM.
In 5 days the UEFA Executive Committee is going to choose the host of the European Football Championships in 2012 – EURO 2012. UEFA shall select one from among three bids – from Poland-Ukraine, Croatia-Hungary or Italy.
On 17th April, one day before announcement of UEFA decision, the world’s biggest Mexican wave is to be made on the stands of the VIRTUAL STADIUM. Earlier, on Monday, 16th April, an electronic message will be sent to the stadium users, providing the date and time of holding the Mexican wave. At the indicated time each users will have to log on at the website www.wirtualnystadion.pl and click on specified spot. The more fans do that simultaneously, the bigger wave is going to be created.
Already as many as 145,000 people are seated on the stadium. This is world’s biggest VIRTUAL STADIUM. Due to its growing popularity among fans, the stands have been expanded. This is the world’s biggest stadium ever, even counting those that have been actually constructed – Maracana in Rio de Janeiro seats 103,022 persons, while Michigan Stadium in the US city of Ann Arbor seats 107,501 fans.
The VIRTUAL STADIUM was created by Telekomunikacja Polska. Its construction took 3 weeks. The stadium continues to be expanded. Although no matches will be played at the stadium, wirtualnystadion.pl will become a meeting place for enthusiasts of football and joint entertainment.
The new sports facility enables not only selection of the sector and seat to be occupied by a fan when entering the stadium. Everyone can also place own, unique description, add a photo, choose a figure that will symbolize him or her, the so-called avatar. The VIRTUAL STADIUM allows first of all for establishment of relationships with other fans, inviting friends to own sector and finding each other on the stadium with the use of a special search engine.
As the Main Sponsor of the National Football Team, TP has sponsored the Poland-Ukraine bid since the very beginning. The cooperation started as early as in summer 2005, when works commenced on Poland-Ukraine Bid for Phase One of the UEFA tender, i.e. before selection of the final three candidates by UEFA.
