The situation in Ukraine will not affect the UEFA decision

- The current political crisis in Ukraine will have no effect on the UEFA voting concerning selection of the EURO 2012 host – says Viacheslav Koloskov, a member of the UEFA Executive Committee and a representative of Russia.

Currently Ukraine experiences a political crisis. This results from the decree dissolving the parliament issued by President Victor Yushchenko.

Grigorij Surkis, the president of the Ukrainian Football Federation still believes that the joint Poland-Ukraine bid will win against all odds.

Surkis quotes Viacheslav Koloskov, a former head of Russian federation, and presently a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, who thinks that the trouble in Ukraine will in no way affect the voting results. Koloskov reminded that Italy is almost constantly in the state of political crisis and nobody thinks this affects its bid. He also pointed attention to the fact that the tournament will take place in as many as five years, which gives adequately much time to solve the political problems.
