Platini elected a new UEFA President

51-year-old Michel Platini was elected a new UEFA President. During Friday voting at the 31st Congress of UEFA in Düsseldorf the Frenchman received 27 votes thus defeating 77-year-old Lennart Johansson, who has been in this position since 1990. The Swede received 23 votes and will have to give up the function.
